My husband is very proud of the fact that he is a quarter Indian, and while he has only been to India once, my one-year-old is embracing his roots in his love of Indian spices! These pakoras are another great snack for when you’re out and about, or for lunch, with a yoghurty dip (if you’re prepared for the mess that ensues!). Inspired by my sister-in-law’s recipe, they are proving a firm favourite!

Winter berry and pear jam
Wow, life has been pretty “jam-packed” for all of us recently and of course with the run up to Christmas it just keeps getting more crazy. Catherine’s going back to work this week (good luck, Cat!), so we’re sharing with you a super-douper easy-peasy jam recipe. Now THIS is the kind of Christmas jam you won’t mind getting stuck in! (ok, I’m done with the puns). Simple, delicious, packed with goodness and free from refined sugar. What’s not to love?! Continue reading “Winter berry and pear jam”
Secret Veg Pasta
I have a gorgeous niece who is nearly 3 and she absolutely adores her veggies as long as she doesn’t know she is eating them. My sister – trained in the art of toddler tea time – will mash the offending veg into sauces and occasionally place a couple of ‘whole veg distractions’ on top of the meal for her daughter to cast aside with dramatic indignation and then devour the veg packed meal non the wiser (genius!).
This is a peace keeping pasta recipe, replicating my sisters tried and tested veg hiding method for times when stealth rather than toddler negotiation are called for. It’s also a sustaining meal for Mummy’s and Daddy’s for those days where you have only had time for Weetabix (is there a faster to eat cereal?!) and cold coffee and you need to pack in some veg at dinner time.
Bubba bowls
You may have already heard of ‘Buddha’ bowls if you’ve ventured around the plant-based/ hippie/ foodie scene at all. So much delicious freshness in one bowl, and they look so lovely and colourful too. WAAAYY too much faff for feeding a baby and the whole family, right?! Well, I recently realised that it’s pretty much one of our family’s default dinner dishes although it’s often thrown onto a plate or directly onto the baby’s highchair tray. I mean, honestly, who has the time to beautifully arrange food for a baby when you know little fingers are going to pick up and eat a bit but then relocate the rest to the floor/up the wall/ in their hair? (all of these things actually happen here every. single. day).

Green Monster Oaties
My original plan for these was just to make a quick and healthy pram snack to take out and about with us. The result ended up so delicious that I’ve ended up making so many of these over the past few weeks, and everyone’s been enjoying them! I just kept using the excuse that I had to keep tweaking the recipe a bit… “hmm, too green… not green enough… needs to be a bit more chewy etc etc”. Continue reading “Green Monster Oaties”
Scrumptious pumpkin, sage & apple soup
I collected the leaves in this picture last weekend after we went on a lovely autumn bike ride in Derbyshire with my parents. Peddling through the hills with soft afternoon light and falling leaves while my 1 year old son Joshua snoozed at the back was pretty idyllic! An outdoorsy autumn day definitely put us in the mood for warming seasonal food. We nearly lost our outdoor glow with a tediously long drive back home to London but we were cheered up by a delivery of lovely orange pumpkins!
